Pete, I had a similar issue with likes and comments a few weeks ago, assumed it was just glitchy, or that I hadn’t formatted the post properly, etc. I’ve been researching lately so haven’t posted anything in a while, so don’t know if the issue resolved.

I don’t trust any site, no matter how much they claim to be “free speech absolutists.” They’re all about respecting our rights, until they’re not.

Thanks. Yeah, I think this is looking like a trap site and one day everyone is going to find their bank accounts frozen, especially if they pass the Restrict Act

Substack webhost is AWS. Amazon Web Services. 🤔

I have two approaches to this occurring. One, which has been happening since I started using Substack, is that Substack feels like it breaks one thing while trying to implement another. I'm curious if all of the recent changes has just messed with a lot of how Substack works. The UI for a lot of things appear more wonky on my end.

A second possibility, and one that would be rather concerning, is that the implementation of Notes is now directing engagement towards that more than Substack itself. I've found that my feed has trickled down a huge deal. Maybe through censorship, or maybe through people moving more towards posting on Notes. I generally don't like Notes. I find that it enforces the same behaviors that have appeared on Twitter. If people are now forgoing long-form articles for clapbacks then we may be in a bit of cultural trouble.

Yeah, I agree. Not a fan of Notes. I used to get quite useful engagement after commenting on articles from other authors. People have generally read the post they comment on so provide better replies. In Notes people comment without reading the links (including me)

I sometimes stop receiving emails from Substack authors for no apparent reason. For one particular Substack writer, I stopped receiving his posts for about two months and I tried a number of things to try and start up getting the emails again, but nothing worked. Then mysteriously, I started receiving them again one day. I am a paid subscriber so it was not a tiered access problem. I could see his posts if I went on his Substack site, but I could not get the emails for months. No clue what this was about.

I haven't had that problem I don't think, missing emails are usually in my spam box, but I think maybe some email programs might have censoring capability
