My original Title was “ Will Trump Deliver on Massive Deportations and Detention Camps for XX Million Unauthorized Migrants?” but as I was compiling it I found myself heading toward unexpected territory which the new title provides a hint.
My initial feeling was no, Trumps deportation and detention camps would be minimal. It would be way too costly and would disrupt the economy at a large scale and besides, you can not deport someone back to their country without that countries permission.
However, thinking it over I am questioning my skepticism.
Such an enterprise could be profitable for the Billionaires who likely would be contracted to run the Detention Camps, especially if the Detainees would be required to perform productive labor.
Not to mention the money to be made building the Detention Camps, and to round up the migrants you want to detain. While most of the rounding up would have to be done by Federal Law Officers initially, the surveillance systems built by Tech Companies using Biometrics and AI to detect suspects and locate them would facilitate the round up.
You could also offer a Reward for any tips leading to the rounding up of such migrants which would get communities on board with assisting in the identification and location of such individuals. Ratting out your neighbor. We saw it during COVID.
Other tools could be nationwide stop and frisk powers for law enforcement and temporary detention of anyone without an ID until proof of their legal status is obtained.
This will all proceed at a speed the system is capable of handling and in a way to minimize economic disruption
But lets assume however its done the camps get built and you eventually have a few million unauthorized migrants, some of whom have families and have lived in US for over 10 years, and they cant be deported because nobody will take them. Lets use the number 6 million which is half the latest official number of unauthorized migrants from 2022
It going to cost a lot of money to take care of them and their families for the rest of their life. Meanwhile, employers who relied on their labor are hurting, especially in food and agriculture industries.
What is a Model the US can adopt for controlling millions of non-citizens in what might be deemed as Open Air Prisons. Unlike the Japanese Internment this will be forever, so a different model is needed. It occurs to me that Israel and their Palestinian populations in the West Bank and Gaza is a model they might adopt
Of course, some modification may be in order. When Israel took over Gaza and West Bank in 1967 both had a functioning government and self sustaining economy. This would need to be built from scratch which could take some time. But we have plenty of time because this is forever, there is no place to send them like Israel has no place to send the Palestinians
Palestinians in the Occupied Territories provide useful cheap labour to Israel’s Corporations. Those who are vetted and give a work pass can cross over into Israel and work cheap
So the Contractor running the Camps in the US may do the same, by hiring them out to those who need the labor and in return the Contractor takes most or even all of the salary to help offset costs and make a profit
Of course, security in the Camps will be important. Oppressed people tend to grow unhappy and angry over time but because like the Palestinians they have no rights they can be subject to Military Rule. In this case to Private Security Force Rule, and everyone can be tracked and traced and monitored with Peter Thiel s Tech Toys, some of which no doubt are being used in the Occupied Territories. I am sure the IDF will provide friendly advice.
Heck, if it works out maybe Israel will offer to send Palestinians to us so we can build more camps. We have plenty of Federal Land to build them.
Anyways, just a thought as to what might be. Certainly not anything I am recommending and this is not a Prediction.
As I was about to post I read a fascinating article about the Repatriation Drives of the 1930’s. These were done by local governments and not the Federal Govt like the Japanese internment and Operation Wetback deportations under Eisenhower
That said President Herbert Hoover’s administration, which used the slogan, “American jobs for real Americans,” implicitly approved of them
60 percent of these people deported were actually American citizens, many of them born in the United States to first-generation immigrants. But they were Mexican looking so deported anyways (not everyone had a birth certificate as many births took place at home).

Maybe instead of concentration camps we build immigrant education centers. Illegals could learn English and American history then be naturalized, (with a social security number and all) and released into the workforce.
