Trumps Speech
Trying To Turn The Tide
For the first time ever Trump struggled to give a prepared speech which was much shorter than usual (18 minutes). He seemed to have trouble catching his breath and was obviously reading from a teleprompter. Maybe I am reading too much into it but he seemed a shell of himself, lacking his usual arrogance and strength. The spark was gone from his eyes but the anger was visible. Of course, I have TDS so don’t listen to me.
It’s quite clear that Trump like Biden is struggling with age. No shame in that but he is clearly not running the show now, if he ever was. I got the same feeling watching him as when the Democrats announced an early debate for Biden who was given a last chance to win back voters before deciding to move him out. He failed.
Jury is out on Trumps performance and the effect on the polls, but I was not impressed.
He announced an almost $2.5 billion bribe to the military in the form of a $1,750 bonus, as he orders them to commit war crimes and violate international law. But no mention of Venezuela, much to my surprise. I guess in todays America you don’t need Congress to authorize such spending
Let’s get to the Rosy Lies.
Peace in Gaza. There is no peace. Israel never stopped killing. It’s just not being reported much in MSM. People are also dying from malnutrition, disease and lack of medical care as they live in inhumane conditions next to massive garbage dumps attracting insects and rodents.
Prices Down? Maybe for eggs and gasoline but inflation is up to almost 3% (inflation report coming out tomorrow) and higher than this for beef and coffee. Electricity prices are rising, insurance premiums are rising (health and auto) even for those not losing enhanced ACA subsidies. Student loan relief is coming to an end. Rents have come down (up 13% in NYC and SF) but they are still high and continuing its downward trend since 2022. Mortgage rates have also declined but housing prices are still high. Not much relief there.
Give people money direct to buy insurance instead of subsidies to buy insurance from the same health insurance companies he says he wants to punish?. Cant wait to see the PLAN but thats not how it works, it wont be cheaper as many young healthy folks will pocket the money and risk going uninsured driving up premiums for the rest. When the uninsured get bills they cant pay hospitals raise the price for insurance companies and this raises premiums even more.
$18 trillion in foreign investment?. Show me the money. Such an amount would spike the dollar and balloon M2 supply. Neither is happening. Manufacturing employment is down and investment in new drilling rigs are down even if production from existing rigs is continuing to increase
Wages rising faster than inflation?. True, assuming reported inflation figures are correct but my rough analysis shows its understates by about 1% each year for the last 40 years, and wage growth for small companies is lower than for the larger companies or union workers. And unemployment, which is also understated has increased to the highest levels since 2021 , while job creation has plummeted and all but stopped while small businesses are hemorrhaging jobs due to downsizings or closures.
Trump didn’t dare mention ICE detaining and deporting lawful residents and citizens, blowing up civilian fishing boats, unlawfully seizing oil tankers, and pushing AI build up that will inflate electricity prices and destroy jobs. And of course he did not mention the Epstein files which are due to be released on Friday (they wont be, at least not all).
I will credit him for stopping illegal immigration and those seeking asylum by showing up at the border without a visa, but what about legal immigration?Approximately 430,000 H-1B petitions were approved in 2024 and increased to about 467,000 petitions in 2025 and deportations for all the hype have barely made a dent in the overall illegal immigrant population. Voluntary removals are real but we have plenty of that every year, although no doubt Trump policies has increased that.
As for drug prices coming down if purchased from TrumpRx, these are out of pocket purchases and no credit toward insurance deductibles. Whats more important is the prices paid by Medicare, Medicaid and insurance companies.
Most Favored Nation for drugs is a racket to force countries to pay more to Pharma and increase their profits. They might pass a few crumbs along to the rest of us like with Trump Rx and some new drugs but US drug spending probably wont decline that much.
Thats all I got time for.
End
