Tom Cotton (R-AR) vowed to investigate ESG practices by “climate cartel” groups like BlackRock that are “contributing to $5 a gallon gas” “so a lot of fancy investment bankers can feel good about themselves” and “think they drive an electric car when really they’re driving a coal-powered car as opposed to a gas-powered car.”
Cotton stated, “[W]hat Larry Fink and BlackRock have done, in part through collusion with this Climate Action Partnership, is essentially create a climate cartel.They are trying to suppress investment in the fossil fuel industry in America. And I know you have a lot of CEOs and investors who watch. I would just say this, if you’re thinking about joining this climate cartel, you better think again, and you better lawyer up. There’s a reason why America’s top law firms are already advising their clients to be wary here, because this is contributing to $5 a gallon gas and when Republicans take charge in November, I’m going to make sure that the Congress is investigating these matters. This is almost certainly a breach of these firms’ fiduciary duties, probably a civil violation of anti-trust laws, … and very possibly a criminal violation.

The WHO is now referring to their proposed "Pandemic Treaty" as the Convention, Agreement or other International Instrument (CAII) on pandemic prevention preparedness, response and recovery.
What has often been referred to as the “Pandemic Treaty” is now being referred to as the WHO CAII: Convention, Agreement or other International Instrument.
A framework convention or agreement can be adopted under Articles 19-20 and require a 2/3 vote, regulations can be adopted under Articles 21-22 and require a simple majority and recommendations can be adopted under Article 23 of the WHO constitution.
The Intergovernmental Negotiating Body (INB) is meeting Monday, July 18, 2022 to Friday July 22, 2022 to discuss the WHO CAII.

7. One Health
The whole-of-government and whole-of-society One Health approach is fundamental to achieving and sustaining the objective(s) of this WHO CAII. In developing international, regional or national legislative, administrative, technical and/or other measures for pandemic prevention, preparedness and response, the following should be taken into account, among others:
(a) measures to promote a comprehensive One Health approach, promoting coherence among all relevant actors, instruments, initiatives and issues, such as climate change and antimicrobial resistance, insofar as they relate to pandemic prevention, preparedness and response;
(b) measures to strengthen multisectoral, coordinated, integrated One Health surveillance systems to minimize spill-over events and mutations and prevent small-scale outbreaks from becoming a pandemic;
(c) measures to strengthen regular monitoring and sharing of pathogens with pandemic potential from wildlife and domesticated livestock;
(d) measures to ensure that actions at national and community levels encompass whole-of- government and whole-of-society perspectives;
(e) measures to regularly assess One Health capacities, as well as gaps in, policies for and funding support needed to strengthen One Health capacities;
(f) measures to strengthen the synergy with other existing relevant instruments which address the drivers of pandemics;
(g) measures to promote and enhance synergies between multisectoral collaboration at national level, and cooperation at the international level, to safeguard human health, and to detect and prevent health threats at the interface between animal and human ecosystems.
13. Pandemic and public health literacy
Addressing science, public health and pandemic literacy and tackling false, misleading or disinformation are key components of achieving and sustaining the objective(s) of this WHO CAII. In developing international, regional or national legislative, administrative, technical and/or other measures for pandemic prevention, preparedness and response, the following should be taken into account, among others:
(a) measures to manage public information, risk communication and infodemics through effective channels, including social media;
(b) measures to conduct regular social media listening in order to identify misinformation and so to design communications and messaging to the public and counteract misinformation, disinformation and false news;
(c) measures to foster health and science literacy, and promote communications on scientific and technological advances relevant to the development and implementation of international rules and guidelines for pandemic prevention, preparedness and response;
(d) measures to promote and facilitate at all appropriate levels, in accordance with national laws and regulations, development and implementation of educational and public awareness programmes on pandemics and their effects, and public access to information on pandemics and their effects;
(e) measures to provide timely and effective global communication, based on science and evidence, that counters misinformation, disinformation and false news.
Oversight mechanisms for this WHO CAII
(a) The Parties shall consider and approve incentive measures, cooperative procedures and institutional mechanisms to promote oversight of, and compliance with, the provisions of this WHO CAII.
(b) These measures, procedures and mechanisms shall include monitoring provisions and accountability measures to systematically address the impact of pandemics, by means that include submission of periodic reports, reviews, remedies and actions, and to offer advice or assistance, where appropriate. These measures shall be separate from, and without prejudice to, the dispute settlement procedures and mechanisms under this WHO CAII.
And of course various regions are declaring Heat Emergencies as Summer brings the Heat.
While I agree many of these are exaggerated I hear some really dumb commentary by some ridiculing these “Emergencies” equating the effect of heat in Kuwait or Arizona can be compared those suffering heat waves in Northern US or Europe.
First, there is a big difference between dry heat and heat and humidity. This is something a 10 year old should know.
Second, many homes in Europe and Northern US don’t have Air Conditioning. Growing up in the Boston Area without AC was sheer misery during Summer Heat Waves, especially at night. The Elderly have a harder time. Here in Taipei which hit 39 C /102 F yesterday I hardly notice it indoors since everyplace has strong AC (although most here feel cold if they set it below 25 C/77 F)
Contrast this with Cold Weather in Southern/Hot Places. In Taipei they declare a Cold Emergency when temperature drops to 10C /50F. Many places have no heat and its tough on the elderly and homeless
One Winter Vacation in Florida the temperature dropped to 40F. No heat. I was cold like I never was in Boston.
That said, none of this is Climate Change caused by Man, specifically CO2. Although maybe if the idiots putting down black asphalt to pave the roads here in Taipei mixed in some glass or something and increased the albedo it might lower the temperature some

Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt and Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry on Wednesday served third-party subpoenas on Twitter, Meta (Facebook’s parent company), Youtube, Instagram and LinkedIn.
Schmitt and Landry on Tuesday filed discovery requests seeking documents and information from the National Institute of Allergies and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) and Fauci, its director; White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre; Surgeon General Dr. Vivek Murthy; and former Disinformation Governance Board executive director Nina Jankowicz.
Discovery requests also were sent to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention(CDC); the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency and its director, Jen Easterly; the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS); and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).
“In May, Missouri and Louisiana filed a landmark lawsuit against top-ranking Biden Administration officials for allegedly colluding with social media giants to suppress free speech on topics like COVID-19 and election security,” Schmitt said in Tuesday’s press release.
Schmitt added:
“Earlier this month, a federal court granted our motion for expedited discovery, allowing us to collect important documents from Biden Administration officials. Yesterday, we served discovery requests and today served third-party subpoenas to do exactly that.
“We will fight to get to the bottom of this alleged collusion and expose the suppression of freedom of speech by social media giants at the behest of top-ranking government officials.”
Schmitt announced in a July 12 statement that Terry Doughty, a judge in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Louisiana, ruled in favor of a June 17 motion for expedited preliminary injunction-related discovery and set a timetable with specific deadlines for depositions.
According to Schmitt, government officials “both pressured and colluded with social media giants Meta, Twitter and Youtube to censor free speech in the name of combating so-called ‘disinformation’ and ‘misinformation,’ which led to the suppression and censorship of truthful information on several topics, including COVID-19.”
“The Court’s decision cleared the way for Missouri and Louisiana to gather discovery and documents from Biden Administration officials and social media companies,” Schmitt said in a press release on Tuesday.
“The order states, ‘The First Amendment obviously applies to the citizens of Missouri and Louisiana, so Missouri and Louisiana have the authority to assert those rights,’” he said.
According to the press release, Fauci, chief medical advisor to President Biden and director of the NIAID, was asked to turn over any communications with social media platforms related to content modulation and/or misinformation, and to disclose all meetings with any social media platform related to the subject and to provide all communications with Mark Zuckerberg from Jan. 1, 2020, to the present.
Fauci also must turn over all communications with any social media platform related to the Great Barrington Declaration; the authors and original signers of the Great Barrington Declaration; Dr. Jay Bhattacharya; Martin Kulldorff, Ph.D.; Dr. Aaron Kheriaty, Sunetra Gupta, Ph.D.; Dr. Scott Atlas; Alex Berenson; Peter Daszak, Ph.D.; Shi Zhengli, Ph.D.; the Wuhan Institute of Virology; EcoHealth Alliance; and/or any member of the so-called “Disinformation Dozen,” including CHD chairman and chief legal counsel Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.

This actually was a problem IMO because the vax reaction was so severe that it would be easy yo determine who got the vax or not. As such the trials were essentially unblinded which could have permitted manipulation of efficacy data
They also discussed briefly how long substack will commit to free speech. I noticed that Substack has to partner with Apple and Google for their app. So pressure might come from there. Substack recently stopped supporting iPhone users with older ios 12. You cant even subscribe to a substack account unless you are using a newer phone. Not a great business model unless you sell new phones .
