Kerfuffle over New Zealand Covid Vaccine Death Data

So apparently apparently Steve Kirsch gave a presentation at MIT and presented some data claiming the vaccine killed New Zealanders at a rate of 1/1000 per dose

So I took a quick look

Yr-  Deaths- Excess- Pct Excess

*2023-             -2,607 ~ 15.6%

2022- 38,574- 5,214. 15.6%

2021- 34,932- 1,572.     4.7%

2020- 32,615

2019- 34,260

2018- 33,225

2017- 33,339

2017-2020: 33,360

Total Excess Deaths: 6,386 (2021-2022)

And 2607 Excess Deaths through June 2023. This figure is estimated based on reported 38,346 deaths for the 12 months ended June 30 which is almost equal to the 2022 number which is for the January to December period. So I basically divided 2022 excess deaths  by half since I cant located monthly data

Total Excess Deaths 2021 through June 2023 = ~8,993

Based on Bens data 4.3 million New Zealanders were vaccinated

That comes out to 1/478 deaths per person vaccinated.

But thats including COVID deaths. According to this

3,549 died of COVID or it was a contributing factor

So lets subtract this out from Excess Deaths , assuming the COVID deaths from June-November is insignificant

5,444 non-Covid excess deaths

So running the calculation again I get 1/790 deaths per Vaccinated person (1 dose or more).

So if Steve was claiming 1/1000 deaths per vaccinated person his figure is more conservative than mine.

But he is not. He is claiming per dose.

I don’t know how many doses were given as of June, but 12,750,000 doses were given as of November.  Lets just go with that to be conservative

The calculation comes out as 1/2,342 deaths per dose

So Steve is overstating this, unless he is counting all Excess Deaths in which it comes out to 1/1,418 deaths per dose, which is technically 1/1000 if rounding off, but you cant assume all Excess Deaths were caused by the vaccine.

I personally think this is all a distraction from the main point, which is thousands of New Zealanders have died after the Vaccine Roll out much like Taiwan , Japan and Australia , all of which like New Zealand had no Excess Deaths before the Vaccine Roll Out
